Online Training and Easter Break
In April 2023, we conducted the remaining three sessions of the VPP – IMATTER programme through online training. Due to the Easter weekend and school holidays, no sessions were scheduled on the weekend of April 8th. We informed the learners and volunteers about the break and ensured their understanding of the schedule adjustments.
Rebuilding Momentum: Engaging with Schools

On April 21st and 26th, two volunteers and Palesa visited Intlanganiso High and Bulumko High to promote the VPP – IMATTER sessions to the learners. These school visits positively impacted attendance, as the learners showed increased interest and enthusiasm. We were delighted to have 60+ learners attending the Bulumko High and Intlanganiso High sessions.
Successes and Lessons Learned
The sessions were successful, but we acknowledge that mistakes were made and valuable lessons were learned. These experiences will guide us in improving the programme for the next semester. As we approach the beginning of the second semester, we plan to have a debrief session with our volunteers to reflect on our progress and make necessary adjustments before resuming the sessions.
Expanding Reach: Two New Schools in the Klipfontein Area
In the upcoming semester, we are excited to extend the VPP – IMATTER programme to two additional schools in the Klipfontein area. Sisi, one of our team members, has already visited these schools to inform the learners about the programme and distribute consent forms to be filled out by their guardians. The aim is to have a minimum of 50 learners per school and 20 volunteers per school actively participating in the programme.
Volunteers Training and School Engagement

Before commencing the sessions, we will train our volunteers to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver the program effectively. Following the training, we will visit the two schools with a team of enthusiastic volunteers to generate excitement and engagement among the learners, emphasising the importance of the program and the positive impact it can have on their lives.
Through the VPP – IMATTER program, SHAWCO Education is dedicated to empowering youth and providing them with essential life skills and support. We believe that every young person matters and has the potential to make a difference. We can inspire, educate, and uplift our future leaders, creating a brighter and more promising tomorrow. Stay tuned for updates on our journey as we strive to make a meaningful impact in the lives of the youth we serve.
